Obituary

William (Bill) Reidar Olsen passed into eternal life at home with family on Sunday, March 5, 2017. Bill was born in Glasgow, Scotland on December 12, 1950. His parents were the late Captain Reidar H. and Helen L. Olsen of Hollywood. His grandparents were the late William D. and Helen L. Thomson of Scotland and the late Ole and Julie Olsen of Norway. Bill was a longtime Hollywood, Florida resident and established his automotive and trucking businesses in Broward County. Prior to coming to Florida, he resided in Scotland, New York and New Jersey. He attended Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. Bill was devoted to his family and friends and brought great joy, comfort and happiness to all. He especially enjoyed raising his sons, Bill, Charlie and Steven and having fun and enjoying life with his sons and his nephew, Philip. Bill was also a devoted son, caring for his parents in their golden years. Bill enjoyed saltwater sport fishing, golf, the beach, music, movies, the company of family and friends and a good story. Some of Bill's greatest gifts were his kind and generous heart, loyalty, belief in the Golden Rule and his great sense of fun. Bill is survived by his sons William Jr. (Lorelei), Charles and Steven Olsen, all of Hollywood; sisters Reidun Olsen of North Carolina, Julie Olsen of New York and Ingrid Olsen of Hollywood; his granddaughters Brianna and Karina of Hollywood; nephews Philip Rizzo of Texas, Adrian Catalano of North Carolina, Robert Mozie of Washington, D.C. and Tristan Patterson of North Carolina; his godmother and aunt, Williamina Curran of Scotland; his numerous cousins in Scotland and Norway; his dear friend, Andrea Johnson and her son Jordan Johnson, both of Hollywood; and his many friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 11, 2017 in Kalis-McIntee Funeral & Cremation Center, 2505 N. Dixie Hwy, Wilton Manors.
