Mr. Nelson Astacio, Jr. age 60, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida took his final ride on Friday, November 10, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.  Nelson was born on May 8, 1957 in Jersey City, NJ a son to the late Nelson, Sr. an Julia Nazario-Monet.  After graduating high school, Nelson worked for various people before landing a job with the railroad where he would essentially become a foreman and would dedicate over 40 years to the company. In his spare time he could be found riding his Harley, as he was an avid motorcyclist. Nelson was a member of the BMWED-IBT, Miami, Florida.  He is survived by his wife, Mary; 4 sons, Nelson Anthony, Nicholas, Alexander and Julian Carmen; sister and brother-in-law, Judy Astacio and Art Funk; step-brother, Jorge Ortiz; special nephew, Hiram “Jay” Montalvo, whom he loved and thought of as his own son.  Family and friends will gather at the Kalis-McIntee Funeral Home, 2505 N. Dixie Highway, Witlon Manors, Florida on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 3:00-5:00pm, at which time a formal service will begin allowing for family and friends to speak and share their story of Nelson.
