Obituary

Leo V. Barry, Jr., age 100, of Lauderdale Lakes FL died on September 21, 2017. Leo was born on October 30, 1916 in Baltimore, Maryland, the third of five children born to Lucy and Leo Barry, Sr. He was a proud veteran of World War II, having fought in the Army's 69th infantry division. 

Leo graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1950 with a degree in Economics and spent his career working as an Economist with the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington DC. During his tenure there, he served as Statistical Editor for the Survey of Current Business, a monthly publication of the Bureau of Economic Analysis within the Department of Commerce. 

Leo was a devout Catholic, voracious reader, avid golfer, gardener, and a fan of chocolate in any form. He was devoted to his family; his wife of 66 years, Grace Rita, his daughters, Patricia (Dan) and Kathleen (Rob), and his grandchildren, Kait, Kevin and Connor. 

A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, October 8th at 11 am Mass at St. Joseph's Assisted Living, 3485 NW 30th St., Lauderdale Lakes FL 33311.
