Mrs. Karen Ann Romano, age 71 of Pompano Beach, Florida succumbed to health issues just days before her 72nd birthday with her family at her bedside. Born on August 29, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minnesota a daughter to the late Richard Peter and Lorraine Marie Klies Keigler. Karen worked as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer prior to her retirement. She was a devout catholic and member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and was dedicated to living her life for her family. She was the proud mother of 4 children, Robert (Dana) Romano, of Pembroke Pines, Nicole Romano of Pompano Beach, Loren Romano of Lake Charles, Louisanna and Leslie Romano of Pembroke Pines; cherished grandmother to 5 grandchildren, Alex Romano, Christopher Opperude, Cristal Romano, Cecil Murphy and Kayden Murphy; devoted sibling to sister, Mary Jo Nixon of Lake City, Florida; and brothers, Richard Kreigler, of Santa Barbara, California and Peter Kreigler of Oakland Park; caring friend to a host of friends who will miss her smile, her warm caring spirit and most of all her laughter. Family will have a private visitation at the Kalis-McIntee Funeral Home in Wilton Manors. A Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. The family wishes to thank the entire staff especially those on 2E at Kindred Hospital where they cared for Karen for 4 months before her passing. In lieu of flowers, per Karen’s request, please make Mass donations to church in her memory.
