Mrs. Arlene Ann Gordon, age 71, of Tamarac and Fort Lauderdale died on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at home with her family at her side. Born on October 23, 1946 in Miami, Florida, Arlene is a daughter to the late John Charles Godek, Sr. and Ethel Grace Robinson Godek. After high school, Arlene embarked upon a career in the jewelry business, and became quite a designer and artist in jewelry until her retirement. During her career, she designed special pieces for several well known celebrities.
Arlene was an avid drag car/stock car fan and participant, as well as a Gold Wing Motorcycle enthusiast. She would travel all around Florida on her Gold Wing and took part in the annual Toys in the Sun Run in Fort Lauderdale. During her youthful life, Arlene received awards for her excellence in Skeet Shooting, and was the only non-native American to become a member of the Seminole female softball team. Overall, she was full of life and was the only person who could make her longtime companion and life partner, Margaret Baar, laugh and blush at the same time. She was a dear friend to all who had the privilege to know her. She would do whatever she could to help those in need.
Arlene leaves behind to cherish her memory, Margaret Baar, whom she shared her life with for over 20 years; step-son, Matthew Baar, of both Tamarac and Fort Lauderdale; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Linda Godek, of Tamarac; 4 nephews, Robert, Thomas, Edward and Bernie; 4 nieces, Tammy, Deborah, Denise, and Gail; a large number of other family and friends. The family will receive friends on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2017 FROM 11-12:30 AND A GRAVESIDE SERVICE WILL CONCLUDE AT 1:00PM AT EVERGREEN CEMETERY.
